Elizabeth shares with us how to make this delicious recipe to prepare and savor today.
Ingredients
- 3 pounds chicken breasts or thighs (boneless)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 green pepper (cut in julienne style)
- 1 white onion (cut in julienne style)
- 1 teaspoon powdered ginger
- 1 additional teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ cube of chicken bouillon
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup soy sauce (or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch, diluted in 2 tablespoons water
Editor's Note: This recipe calls for a wok. The wok is a type of oval-shaped pan, perfect for preparing stir-fry and other meals over high heat. If you do not have a wok, you can use your favorite deep pan.
Instructions
- Fillet and cut the chicken into pieces of 1 inch or less.
- Using a wok over medium high heat, saute the chicken in 1 tablespoon oil. Adding salt to taste and a tablespoon of minced garlic.
- When the chicken turns golden brown, remove from oil and reserve for later use. DO NOT DISCARD THE OIL!
- In the same wok (or pan), add the peppers, onion and saute together with the ginger powder and a teaspoon of garlic until they slightly caramelize (2 to 3 minutes).
- Add the chicken to the wok and mix with the vegetables.
- Add water, chicken bouillon and stir well until the cube has completely dissolved.
- Add soy sauce and mix well.
- Lower the heat to medium.
- Add the diluted cornstarch and mix well, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Cook until sauce reduces (thickens) to your taste and remove the wok, pot or pan from the heat.
Bon Appetite!
